Run Autoruns (a free download from Microsoft which can be run from its
download folder with no installation). When the information appears, select
the Logon tab which will limit the display to just the programs that are
loaded at start-up. Uncheck those you do not need to have running and, at
next boot, they will not run. If you find you made a mistake, just re-run
Autoruns/Logon and check the item that should have run. If eventually you
are sure the item can be dispensed with, you can delete it, but it is
probably as well to wait for a week or two to become familiar with the
system and keep your options open. It is also worth right-clicking in the
task bar to select Task Manager (or via Ctrl+Alt+Del) to find out which
applications and processes are hogging the CPU memory during the first five
minutes. - Doug
