VHD Maintenance in WVPC

Hi --

In the old version of VPC2007, when I achieved a "gold" VM that I'd
want to archive for future thrashings, I'd go through a sequence of
moves to optimize it. Generally speaking, that'd mean:

* mounting it in another VM,
* wiping %tmp% and swap files,
* defragging,
* sdeleting,
* compressing with virtual disk wizard.

I can't seem to find that last piece in the new VPC for Windows 7?
(While on the topic, are there better routines to fall into?)

Thanks... Karl

With Windows 7 you can attach the .vhd using Disk Manager (or Diskpart.exe)
and use Windows 7 to do maintenance such as defragging.
To compress, open up settings for your vm, select the hard disk in the left
pane, click the Modify... button in the right pane.

Yeah, I'm slowly coming to appreciate that rather immensely!

Sweet. That's the piece I really couldn't find.

Thanks much!
