Video Call problem - can not see contact but can hear them

My mum and I both have exactly the same laptops with built-in webcams and both have Windows Live Messenger 2009 installed. When we try to use Video Call we can both see and hear myself and I can hear my Mum, but neither of us can see her webcam, just a grey box where her webcam video should be. We have both used the McAfee SiteAdvisor tip but that doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone help?
