I dual boot Ultimate 32 bit and Home Premium 64 bit, Pentium 4 3.8GHz, 8 GB
DDR2 RAM.
I would like to upgrade the current PNY GeForce 8400 GS 256MB to one with at
least 512MB.
I don't think space is a problem in my case, but I really don't want to get
into adding fans etc.
No, I don't know much about this ;-)
Any suggestions appreciated.

i just built a new system based around the palit radeon hd 4850 512mb:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261027 - $169.99

great price, and great card. never heard of palit before but i liked
that it was shorter than the other's, and had better cooling. installed
8.9 drivers straight from ati's site.

wow/warhammer online plays max everything, 4x aa / 16af no problem

i only have the demo of crysis but it sure eats it for breakfast as well.

http://www.thezengarden.net/katsumoto_pics - if you want to see it
inside a case

the only issue i've had to date was when it was when i had it installed
on my xp pro machine for a couple days waiting for the rest of the parts
which previously had an nvidia 7950gt. when i remoted in from work, then
later got home - upon logging in at home the ati control center process
would crash. this had no effect on the system, but was annoying at best.

this was most likely due to files left over by the nvidia card even
after driver sweeper though. i've experienced no such issues under vista 64.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply. I had never heard of Palit until now. I'll look into
it further.
I have heard of newegg.com - great site.

Thanks again.
