Videos, eh?
Much like other types of files - video can be unique - as in what
application(s) can open them and what codecs they require to decode them so
you can watch them.
What you would need to be is *very* specific about what type of videos you
are trying to watch (file extension, reported codec required (GSpot is a
utility that can tell you that), etc...)
Also - I am unsure why you posted that question here - in a newsgroup about
Windows Update. If you have your Windows machine up to date - this is not a
Windows Update issue (although Windows 2000 is pretty close to obsolete
IMHO.)
