Hmmm. I went to a picture folder in Windows Explorer, selected a jpg,
right clicked..chose Open With...clicked on Choose Default Program and
selected a different program than WLPG and clicked on "always open with this
program"... I thought that would change the global default program for that
type file. But...I went to Control Panel...Default Programs... and found
that WLPG was still the default there so I changed it in Control Panel. As
you stated in your first paragraph the original picture slide show in the
WLM email still opened with Windows Live... but any attachment of a jpg I
send myself now is now showing as an inline picture in the message section.
Thank you.

There is no option to accomplish your desired task.
Click on the Attachment to open it or view it in the included slide show.
- The slide-show is coded into the program and not capable of being
disabled.
Fyi. If Windows Live Photo Gallery (WLPG) is installed and configured as
the default viewer for file type(e.g. jpg, bmg, png) the picture will open
in WLPG.
- Note: Gif filetypes should be configured for viewing in IE or a different
picture viewer.

I used to see attached pictures inline within my message. Now they show as
a small film strip with a clickable caption to "View slide show". (even
if
there is only one picture). When I click on that it enlarges the first
picture in Windows Live and shows the option to view them all as an
automatic slide show. I've gone through the WLM settings and can't find
the option to again view pictures automatically within the message itself.
Anyone know how to change that?
