In my Control Pnael is an item entitled Viewpoint Manager. The items Icon is
a Blank sheet and when you try to open it a Window opens reading "Application
Not Installed". So this Icon, Viewpoint Mamager in my Control Panel does
nothing and I want to delete the Icon. How do I do that?

Viewpoint Manager is not a Microsoft-supplied part of Windows.

It gets installed as part of Viewpoint Media Player, and other products
which include Viewpoint technology, such as AOL, AIM, some Adobe products
etc. Apparently many Sony computers include a copy of Viewpoint, for some
reason.

If you can identify the product which is using Viewpoint on your PC, you can
uninstall, or re-install that product using the Programs icon in Control
Panel.

Hope it helps,

It installed with AIM, I could see the Date and Time of AIM and Viewpoint to
be the same date and within minutes of one another. I uninstalled AIM but
the Control Panel icon did not delete....its still remains. I uninstalled
Viewpoint Media Player...that did not remove the Control icon either.

It sounds like the uninstall procedure is faulty, it doesn't clean up
properly.

You could try deleteing viewmgr.exe, which is the EXE file behind the icon.
If the icon still remains in Control Panel, there's probably some kind of
COM registration somewhere; but I don't know the details.

You could try asking in a AIM forum, or else try Viewpoint Support:

Good luck,

I had this exact problem. The only thing that worked was to delete viewpoint
manager from the registry editor. In the start menu, type "regedit" in the
search box. When it opens, click "Edit" then click "Find" and type in
"viewmgr." Delete everything that comes up (just be sure the words "viewmgr"
or "viewpoint manager" are there before you delete it. You don't want to
accidentally delete something important. After this, the icon will disappear
from the control panel. Problem solved.

Nevermind, I noticed one small problem with that solution. Don't try it yet.
