virtual pc vmc file apparently wrecked - anything to do?

I used virtual PC to create a Windows XP virtual PC. But today when I
run Virtual PC it doesn't show my virtual XP. And when I look at the
vmc file, it is 0 bytes, although the vhd file is still 4 gb. So is
there any way to fix this? Some way to create a useable vmc file that
will use the vhd file I spent hours setting up?

(After running virtual PC for a few hours the day I set up the XP
virtual machine my hard drive, which had about 20 gb free, said it had
0 gb free, although after I rebooted it had 20 gb free again. So
perhaps the vma file was destroyed because it needed to write to disk
and couldn't? I'm assuming virtual PC was the thing that actually
somehow siphoned off all my disk space somehow, since I've never seen
that happen before.

Hi, Cherold.

You probably will get some help from "generic" gurus here, but your chances
are better in the Virtual PC newsgroup:

Hello,

You just have to create a new virtual machine from Virtual PC. You create it
by using your current VHD file instead of a new one.

Thanks. Apparently the vmc file must be bad though, because Virtual
PC says it is unable to register the vmc file and that I should make
sure it's a valid file. :-(
