i recently got a virus, dont know what, but its messing with my msn, it
infected a friends msn after a link was sent. I reformatted and now i have no
msn and i cannot download msn, or any other microsoft update. I am using
vista home premium, was sp2 but since reformatting i cant download the sp's
any more either. however i can get on the net, as u can see from this post,
i cna download from other sources, so far the only issue i have is either
with msn messenger or microsoft sites, specifically the download
centre....any one else heard of or having this issue

Greetings,

If you've reinstalled Windows, it's more likely that something is setup incorrectly as
opposed to your previous issue interfering.

Unfortunately, this sounds like one of those issues that really can't be fixed here on the
newsgroup as someone will need to take a look at exactly what's happening on your PC.

Just a shot in the dark. Check your Firewall exceptions and see if the Microsoft
sites that you mention is there as not to connect.

BTW. What was the link.(do not post a live link here). Was it by someone named PC
Butts and was it concerning cleaning of a virus. Just curious.
The reason that I ask is because if it was this person then the link also altered
your Hosts file by excluding most Microsoft download sites (in other words disabling
them)
