Since downloading WLM beta, I have been receiving links from at least two of
my buddies to go a certain site (different site each occasion), and when I
tried to chat with these 'buddies' they go offline immediately. When I later
contact them, they said they were not online at the time. What does this mean?

Greetings,

More than likely they've obtained a Messenger virus/worm. Besides running an antivirus
application to attempt to remove these, these are usually not that difficult for an
experienced computer user to remove; just finding the process and removing it.

So it seems that someone is masquerading under their identity. Should they
change their password?

Hi,

Probably won't work as most of these just communicate through Messenger itself -- they should
get it cleaned off.

However, changing the password after that might be a good idea, goodness knows what these
things really do.
