Vista 32 & Pinnacle 11.1

I have just purchased this software but all is not going well.

Studio hangs briefly with a Not Responding at the top then it eventually
opens.

Studio cannot see my camcorder which is a Sony DCR P1000E, I have it
connected via Firewire, switched to Edit. Other capture software can see it,
i.e. Windows Movie Maker, Nero capture software (can't think what it's
called).
I paid for this software to get the extras, at the moment I can't use it.
I have been on Pinnacles Live Chat but although they were very helpful they
haven't come up with a solution.

I have used Studio 10 previously and although there were a few lock ups
nothing quite as bad as this.

Any ideas please?

Did you do an upgrade with Vista or a Clean install? If you did an upgrade,
that could be the problem. How about video drivers? Up to date? What
about antivirus? I use AVAST with Vista and it works good.

Did you check the event viewer to see if there are any system or application
errors?

How did you install Pinnacle? Did you run as Administrator?

There could be other issues, but these come to mind first.

Hope that gives you something to think about.

Thank you for your reply, sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you.

I've now managed to get the software to see the camcorder, I can transfer
the footage but on playback it's as if it's in fast forward mode. The same
footage is fine in Windows Movie Maker, i.e. it's at normal speed. I hadn't
noticed at first but it's the sound that gives it away.

Both Vista and Pinnacle were clean installs by the way.

I turned off the UAC to be able to get the camcorder and software to 'talk
to each other'.

Any more thoughts gratefully received,

VISTA'S UAC (USER ACCOUNT CONTROL)
i know what it is now but stil *no *connection between pc and
camcorder!

Windows Cista Home premium

Hello DirkW,

Mine is up and running now but it took a format of the C drive and a
reinstall of everything. Having the UAC turned off I gained a trojan and it
just mucked up my system full stop. After everything was reinstalled I
didn't turn off the UAC!

I could get Windows Movie Maker to see the camcorder but not Pinnacle. I
loaned a Sony camcorder (different model) from a neighbour and Pinnacle could
see that without a problem.
I had lengthy discussions online with Pinnacle's Live Chat but they didn't
really help me solve the problem.

Sorry I've not been any help at all, perhaps it's worth you getting on to
Live Chat?

Very spooky that you have exactly the same set up as me, LOL.

Just a thought, could you try right clicking on the Studio icon on the
desktop and select Run as Admin? Might be worth a try.

That does not sound hopeful.

I am lending a camcorder from a friend (this evening) and than I try t
see if my PC is correctly working (I think so).

My friend also borrowed my sony DCR-P1000E camcorder with pinnacl
studio 10 running under XP en he got it working right away (n
problems).
There might be a bit of hope there.

I did that and no improvement.

I like to stay intouch with you "Aquilegia".

I am now replicating the PC configuration (conditions) of my friends P
on my second PC and hope to get it working.
