vista 32 bit wont shut down and blue screen appears

Hi all. New to this but i have a big problem. I bougt a new pc recently,
500 gb memory, 4gb ram, i installed 32 bit vista home premium. When i go
to shut down it wont shut down and blue screen appears and says physical
memory dump. Then it restarts itself. I am wondering if this is because
of the 32 bit os and i need 64 bit os. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
