I have Vista Business that installs from 5 CDs instead of 1 DVD. I want to
do the following:

1. Copy the installation to 1 DVD so that it installs from that 1 DVD and
2. Slipstream SP1 into the installation.

Please advise if and how I can do these.

Thanks,
~alan

Hi Alan,

No can do on either. Even if you can find a method to convert the multiple
disks to a single, there is no method to slipstream SP1 due to differences
in how the services are implemented.

You should tell these people that it cannot be done:-

It requires the use of vlite, a third party program, and also breaks the
full disk so that you can only use it to install the one particular version.
I'll give that it's a workaround, but what you get from it is no longer a
full install disk and certainly isn't supported should something go awry.

I just had to stick my nose in <g> as you said that there was no way
to do it...that being an absolute statement.

Personally, I don't have any problems with the limitations that you
mention. A big plus is that it can apparently repair an SP1 install
where the original version cannot.

That Tutorial is on how to slipstream SP1 into a DVD, not CD as this poster
asks. Therefore there is nothing wrong with that tutorial. It works and
many people including myself have used it.

I have not tried....yet...but It may or may not work

Install 'WAIK' (http://tinyurl.com/ykoo3x)

and copy all *.swm files into folder.

> imagex /export d:\install*.swm 4 d:\sample.wim "Windows Vista Ultimate"

If everything may go correct and right manner... It export Vist
