Vista 64 and 1394 problem

All,

I just installed Vista 64 on my brand new Alienware PC and everything is
working except for 1394. Vista detects devices that I attach to the 1394
ports, but it keeps prompting me to load drivers and I can't access the
devices. I have tried a 3 external hard drives, IPOD, and s Sony HD
camcorder. They all have the problem.

I also searched the web and have not noticed this problem.

Help?

My system config:

Nvidia 680i SLI motherboard
geforce 8800 GT graphics card
4 gigs of RAM
Blu-ray writer
DVD writer
2 SATA HD

Thanks for your help.

The firewire port itself has a driver. Try removing it in Device Manager to
let Windows find it again (action menu, 'uninstall' and 'search for new
hardware')

Mark,

Thanks for responding.

To be more clear, when I connect a 1394 device, it shows up under SBP2 IEEE.

Which one do I uninstall? The SBP2 IEEE or the controller (Texas Instrument)?

Thanks,

Sov

Since it happens for all devices using firewire, you need to try
reinstalling the firewire device driver.
