Vista 64 bit beta driver issues

I'm using Vista Business 64 bit and I noticed I cannot install bet
Nvidia video card drivers...after doing some Googling apparently 64 bi
versions of vista do not allow you to use beta drivers that don't hav
digitally signed signatures...there is apparently a work around in whic
you can hit the F8 key on bootup and choose the option to 'Disabl
Driver Signature Enforcement

but this only works for the current boot session...I tried this metho
and it still did not work every time...do I need to go into F8 ever
time I boot my system up with the beta drivers or only the first time
install the beta drivers

makes it a real pain to install beta drivers in Vist

Yes, you'll need to do it each time until Nvidia gets the driver signed.

Yes, F8 is required for each boot-up until the drivers are replaced with
signed drivers or removed from the system.

I'm a bit confused here.

I have been using beta Geforce drivers for over a year on Vista Home Premium
X64. I have received warnings on the betas that the source cannot be
verified, but I was able to choose to install the drivers. I believe that
they were signed, although they were not WHQL blessed. The current drivers I
have in place are betas (175.80) that were leaked through the website of an
nVidia partner.

I think I've only seen one driver in the past year that was unsigned, and
that was associated with a utility that may have been a hack.

Apparently beta and unsigned are not equivalent.

Perhaps some MVP can shed light on this. I can't explain the OPs problem; I
have not shared it.

True.

Beta means that the driver isn't at the final release point and is
only for testing. All beta drivers will be unsigned drivers as well.

Unsigned means it's not designed for the operating system in
question... i.e., it doesn't pass all of MS's tests.

Not all unsigned drivers are beta drivers.

I believe that the statement that "All beta drivers will be unsigned drivers
as well" is not true.

Let me be clear that I've tried many beta nVidia drivers in the past year
under Vista X64, and Vista has never refused to load any of them. I have
never needed to suppress the security feature that prevents the use of
unsigned drivers with nVidia beta Geforce drivers. That leads me to believe
that they can't be unsigned.

This driver signing is beginning to sound like extortion. Somehow it is
leading to 3rd party application providers to have to pay Micro$oft or no
signed drivers for the M$ OS. This will raise costs in that vendors have to
pander to Microsoft.

If a user authorizes a 3rd party driver, it should never prompt again.

Sadly, your assumption fails from the beginning. There is no fee to
Microsoft nor to anyone else to sign drivers. To sign or not to sign is the
choice of the vendor. There are a great many white papers and guides on the
subject.
