the box about 5 days.

I have about 200 errors of various kinds. I am currently on secon
reformat and supposed fixes from HP installing ATI updates.

I have installed only two programs not included with the usual softwar
and that is xlite and touchstar and it is a necessity I need it to work

I get A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop workin
correctly. When it cannot recover I get the blue screen of death and o
sometimes it skips the warning and goes right into the blue screen o
death. :mad

With that said .. I have searched and read and searched and read an
found that there is NO \"real\" resolution to the issue. I called wher
I purchased the computer in hopes that I could exchange it for a 32 bi

So, another option is to reload a fresh 32 Vista version on here. Ha
anyone tried it and found that it worked? I don't want to load it and g
through days of loading adding deleting and updating software only t
find out its not going to work? Or do you have a better suggestion fo
fixing the issue?

First of all, calm down. Second of all, this isn't Microsoft you're talking
to. This is a peer-to-peer public newsgroup hosted on Microsoft servers.
While some MS employees occasionally post here, the majority of people who
help out (like me) are volunteers who do not work for the company.

Return the computer to where you bought it. It sounds like it has hardware
issues and it will not meet your needs. I have no idea why the place where
you bought the computer told you that Vista doesn't come in 32-bit because
of course it does. It's irrelevant. If you are having blue screens on a
brand-new computer, the hardware is at fault. Take it back to where you
bought it and tell them to exchange the machine for one that will meet your
needs or give you a refund, or you will do a charge-back on your credit
card.

Have a drink. Settle down. Then take the computer back to where you
purchased it and get a refund.

Then go home. Have another drink. Call DELL. Get a new computer.

Malke, thanks for your post but you seemed to miss the whole point.
am very upset I have spent hours on top of hours trying to do somethin
as simple as loading my files and its been a huge nightmare. M
computer is a necessity. Time is MONEY! I don't have the time nor th
patience anymore for this. When you purchase a computer the out of bo
experience should not be any person trying to find a tweak or way t
make it work. Seriously that is ridiculous and no one should go throug
that. I feel sorry for someone who is purchasing a computer for th
first time and experience this they may be branded forever. I have
right to be upset. Second, my statement is an expression o
disappointment in a huge way. It doesnt matter if this is Microsof
supported or not or who see's the post or responds or if they ar
employed. I am simply trying to find someone who has had the issue an
what they did to resolve it.

And most importantly.... this is in fact the second laptop within
weeks time with the exact same issue. I find it hard to believe tha
two computers from two different retailers could have the exact sam
issue and for it to be wrote off as hardware issues???? Also include
several sessions with tech support. In addition I didnt say they didn
make 32bit...I said they don't have them (dont have dont carry) som
stores are no longer carrying 32bit because 64bit is supposed to be th
latest and greatest. and ITS NOT! ::

That's it, did you try it? They ought to be able to help you and I'm quite
sure they will be.
Good luck...

Have you checked with the folks who make these two programs to see if they
are compatible with 64-bit Vista? From the sound of it both load low-level
device drivers that may or may not be 64-bit compatible.

You left out the most important part in your first post - that you have had
*two* computers from different OEMs with the same problem. It is very
common that a brand-new computer will have hardware issues right out of the
box. Whinging about it will not change this fact. If hardware is going to
fail, then it will usually do so right away or go for years. The solution
in that case is to RETURN THE COMPUTER TO WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED because
hardware will not magically heal itself and the faulty machine is still
under warranty.

*However* since you now say that you have had two computers with the same
symptoms, it is far more likely that something you are doing is causing the
issue. Since we cannot see your computer, we can't know what you are doing
wrong. Most probably the specialized programs you have installed are the
culprits.

Return the computer to factory condition to make sure your installations are
not the cause. Restart the computer and press F10 to get into the HP
recovery process. If the computer misbehaves with nothing on it but the
factory image, then you know your have a hardware issue. See my first
paragraph for what you do with a hardware issue on a brand-new machine. If
the computer behaves correctly - with no crashes - then you know for sure
the problems are caused by a program(s) you are installing. In that case,
you need to contact tech support for the program(s) and take it up with
them.

I'm sorry that you don't like this answer, but this is the way to approach
it. Many thousands of people have purchased HP (and other OEM) laptops
running Windows Vista 64-bit and do not have problems. Therefore, the
difficulties you are having are specific to either your computer and/or the
programs you have installed, most probably the latter.

*::xlite is a good shot at it however on the other unit I had Virtua
Boot loaded and all those programs on the 32bit side nothing bu
preloaded on 64bit side and Virtual and had just as many problems.

so, i am not inclined to think that it could be attributed to just th
xlite or ts for that matter. i have tried a few variations of differen
stuff and they did not work =(

basically at this point I am interesting in knowing if I can down grad
to a 32 bit version of windows ???
