Hi folks,

Just to confirm that does Windows Vista 64 is compatible with AMD X2
4000+ Dual Core processor. Do I need to install drivers for Windows to
recognize the new processor?

Thanks,

Boaby

Yes, Vista 64 supports that processor. Your wording in your last
sentence makes me wonder, are you replacing an existing CPU with this,
or is this a whole new PC?

Before moving to Vista 64 you want to make sure there are 64-bit drivers
available for your other hardware devices.

yes he's correct i've seen a lot of people here saying that they though all
the drivers were good but ended up having to go with the 32 bit windows, i
recommend thinking about it before getting it,

Sorry if I did not make my question clear. It just a processor upgrade
from a AMD 64 3700+ 939 Socket to AMD X2 4000+ 939 Socket processor. I
successfully managed to get Windows Vista to use processor however it
is showing just one CPU in task manager. I have checked the CPU
history as it is only showing one graph? My motherboard is a DFI
Lanparty UT Ultra D which I have confirmed that it is compatible with
an AMD X2 processor. Windows device manager only recognize the
processor as Hammer K8 family processor?

Any ideas on how to force Vista 64 OEM Ultimate to see two cores? I
checked the AMD web site which shows nothing in regards for drivers
for Vista 64.

Thanks,

Boaby

Hi folks,

Thanks for the replies. I have checked to see device manager to show
two cores but it is only showing one CPU history instead of two?

Any other ideas.

Thanks,

Boaby
