Vista 64 USB serial adapter

I have several USB to serial adapters. They all worked a few weeks ago. Now
when I attempt to use them I get a message that "The name is already in use
..." The adapter is not useable. I have tried uninstall, reinstall, and no
luck. What is my next move?
