Vista 64bit - Windows Modules Installer has stopped working

I try to install the standalone update for KB938979, it reaches 100% but then
a message pops up saying "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working".

If anyone knows how to fix this (other then installing Ubuntu) that would be
great.

Update on this...

The update KB938979 has now come through Windows Update, along with 4
others. I selected to install all of them, and the same thing happened with
it was installing the 4th update (KB938979). Now Windows update is stuck at
the same position until I kill the wuauclt process, and then says it
failed/cancelled.

Can anyone help me out?

Since I tried to install the Windows dreamscene for ultimate 64 bits, I can't
install almost any update (some of them, yes. The update for the Nvidia
Geforce driver, for instance).
Hope Microsoft will resolve this soon or we'll be exposed to any hacker!!!
