I'm running Vista Ultimate with MS Office 2007. Every time i try to sync
outlook with my HP iPAQ (Win CE 2005) rx3115 I get this error message

"SYNCHRONIZATION CANNOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSEMICROSOFT OUTLOOK CANNOT OPEN
THE TASK FOLDER. CLOSE OUTLOOK AND THEN START OUTLOOK AGAIN. ONCE OUTLOOK IS
RUNNING, DISCONNECT YOUR MOBILE DEVICE AND RECONNECT. IF THE PROBLEM
PRESISTS, REINSTALL OUTLOOK"

This is what i have tried so far:

1. Uninstall & Reinstall Windows Mobile Device Center version 6.1
2. Downloaded all available updates from MS through Auto Updater
3. Uninstall & Reinstall Outlook 2007
4. Uninstall & Reinstall Outlook 2003 no change
5. Did a hard reset on my PDA
6. Did everything they talk about on this website
http://modernnomads.info/wiki/index....roubleshooting (One of the best I found)

I did have it workign for sometime that out of no where it just stopped
syncing. It does connect becaue i can browse all the files on the PDA
throught Windows Explorer and it does show up in My Computer. I can sync with
Media Player but that's only music. I need it to sync with Outlook. It worked
fine when I had XP Pro with MS Office 2007. Anyone have any thought ides???
I'M AT MY WITS END...???

Hi,

Try creating a new Outlook profile. Then delete the current WMDC
partnership and set it up with the new profile open. If it synchronizes,
you can always import the data into your new profile from the old pst file.

I am in same situation as you are. My case is Windows mobile 2003, Vista Home
Premium, Microsoft Office 2007 Outlook, Dell X50V and Windows Mobile 6.1
installed. My PDA was syncing fine for a while but out of nowwhere it stopped
syncing with desktop.
I have tried everything you guys have done also.
I have communicated with Microsoft but to my surprise, their response has
been no damn good period. They don't even response now.

Lets try this
Open a command window (in Vista use the start search and type in Command and
you should get a Command Prompt application)

In the command window type

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd C:\Windows\System32
start devmgmt.msc

The first line just sets the device manager to show items that aren't
currently attached, such as WM devices, etc. The next two lines just open
Device Manager from a command prompt. I actually made this into a batch
file to save myself time.

Once in Device Manager, under View, select Show Hidden Devices

In device manager delete anything that smells like a WM device thing.

You might find Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapters in Network Adapters
You might find Windows Mobile Device and PocketPC under Portable Devices
You might find something under USB devices, but be real careful here. If it
isn't obvious, just leave it. I disabled my wireless keyboard and mouse once
deleting stuff here. Just had to remove and replug in the receiver, but it
was annoying.

(Don't be concerned about the number of other things you see there. If for
example you see your USB camera three times, it just means you probably
plugged into three different USB ports. You might have noticed that some
drivers load if you switch USB ports. That's all that is.)

Then try connecting your device again. You may need to connect, disconnect,
and reconnect. I have had it install drivers the first time and actually
start WMDC the second.

If this doesn't work, try un-installing WMDC and running through the device
driver removal again. Don't re-install WMDC yet. It should go get WMDC after
it loads a driver for a WM device. It might put it in Windows Update after
it sees a WM device driver installed.

Hope it helps. has worked for me once or twice. Once I had to sacrifice a
chicken as well though. (Just kidding, for all you animal rights folks out
there)

For information Vista does not need WMDC to browse a device, or for Media to
sync from Media Player. They built some rudimentary capability to see a
mobile device into Vista to allow some minor file transfer without having to
install a sync client. Not quit the USB drive thing we were all hoping for,
but better than it was. Just pointing this out so you kind of understand
that WMDC does not have to be working to do some things. It is required to
sync PIM items though, as that is its function.

Here are all the files I have in ....local\microsoft\outlook folder

http://www.manifestpurpose.com/images/win%20mobile5.jpg

I believe that my archive file is set as both ARCHIVE & PST

I remember when I uninstalled & installed outlook. Outlook asked me where
the archive and back up pst file was. I pointed them both to the outlook file
I think?

How do i fix that. Every time I uninstalled & installed outlook it asks me
where those files are. Why would it do that if I'm doing a clean install?
