What is it with Vista and IE7? Can't pull up nbc.com???

lenovo X61t (laptop / tablet)
Vista Business
IE 7 - won't pull up nbc.com
Firefox - no problem!

Is this a side effect of some sort of paternalistic code inserted into IE to
keep me 'safe' on the Internet? Well thanks, but no thanks!

And I can't pull up www.discovercard.com using vista and both IE7 and IE8.
This started happening last week. I suspect something MS did to us!!!

No problem here using IE7 on Vista Ultimate w/SP1. I have not installed IE8
beta. Did the problem start after you installed IE8 beta? Financial sites
have historically been slow to allow new browsers. If you uninstall IE8 or
reinstall Vista what are your results?

Thanks, what's your brew? KoolAid? Evidently.

IE won't pull up the site. Firefox will. Why bother looking to Microsoft for
a fix, when it's probably just something in the water?

Before anyone wastes their time on this, the problem is with tablet PCs and
when accessing NBC the results are this:

"Going to the IP address for nbc.com (64.210.192.67) comes up with a
page that simply says "It works!""

I suggest the OP contact NBC to determine the issue. Their site is doing
something funky.

The problem started last week after a round of MS updates. I was on IE7 at
the time. Installed IE8 and problem still exists. I don't expect removing
IE8 will solve it.

Some of the participants in that discussion which I linked to,
http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=921856, have speculated that
the problem with nbc.com is restricted to Vista tablet OS, wich is what I am
running.

(And to further add to the record, I have no problem with nbc.com but have
the problem with www.discovercard.com). I did find another who couldn't get
discover. I would have no problem in using firefox and in fact have no
problem with the AOL browser pulling it up. The problem is that I'm heavily
into the Microsoft Money program which integrates with IE.
