I have recently experienced an issue on Outlook where I can't receive
messages but can send them OK after previously having no problems. I am not
aware why there has been a change. I use an HP Pavilion laptop dv2000.

I have checked the ISP and the email server (I can read email via the web
but just not with my Outlook) and there appear to be no problems. In fact I
have the same problem using two different ISPs and email accounts on
different servers. I do not seem to have the same problem using an XP based
desk-top.

The POP settings look correct and in fact have not been changed.

Can any one help on this?

Ive now uninstalled Norton Internet Security (probably the worst piece of
software in the world) and it seems to have helped for a moment.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. I guess they cause problems for
Outlook, too.

Thanks. How do I exclude EML files. I can scan emails with the AVG and that
seems to work OK.
