Vista and media player 11 - again

I have a problem with my new PC (Dell Dimension 690) with a Core 2
Quad E5335 processor, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD

When I use Media Player 11 sometimes the sound stops for 0.5-3 sec.
This seems to be due to searchindexer.exe writing to the HDD. If I
disable Windows Search I don't have the problems. But I don't really
like doing so.

Anyone else experienced the same problem, or could something be wrong
with my machine?

I posted a week ago, I received one response, but that does not not
really address my issue

Cumulative update for Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista

Actually this appears to be a Windows Search problem, do you use it or
do you dislike disabling it for some valid reason other than the fact
that it "Sounds like a good idea".

They seem to have got something drastically wrong with the "Background"
concept. I ended up having to go to drive properties and disabling
"Index this drive for faster searching" because 2 machines here simply
ground to a halt with "Busy" icons for minutes at a time, and these were
not slow machines otherwise.

Besides which why are Microsoft so obsessed with creating complete
catalogs of user's machines?

Well I use it to search emails, etc. It also seems that Google Search
doesn't work without the Windows Search enabled.

There's your problem, and it happens to be one of those that will be
addressed with Windows Vista SP1 early in the new year.

For now, you are using two competing products, both of which are
attempting to index your drive. Both Windows Search and Google SEarch
are running at full speed.

Try uninstalling Google Search and allow Windows Search to continue. If
you really want to keep Google Search, then you'll have to wait for
Vista SP1.
