I recently installed my MS Office on my Vista machine. For some reason all
my MS Word docs are in Word Pad. If I open from Word I have no problem and
they open fine but if I open from some other location like "Recent Items" I
get a screen with a bunch of garbage on it. Also when I create a new doc in
Word it has the .doc but in Properties it shows OPEN IN Word Pad
--
Thanks!

Default programs is where you set file associations. Try re-associating
..doc files with MS Word and/or try running detect and repair form MS Word.

What Cal Bear is telling you is to go into the control panel
and set your default program to Word. This will change the
file association of you word doc to Word instead of Wordpad.
