Vista and MS Word and Excel

New computer.. everything was fine with word and excel but now it takes
forever to open.. or get no response.. and just hangs up. I use these file
types everyday and I need to fix this or I will have to format and load XP.
Any help on this issue..

Did you try the OFFICE repair? Programs and Features. Click on Microsoft
Office. Tell it you DONT want to uninstall. It will then give you a
repair option.

You failed to state which version of Office you're running.
However, try killing all of the Add-Ins as they are usually the problem.

I'm using 2000, so may be in a different place in other versions. Detect
and repair under the Help menu from any of the applications (Word etc).

What version of Word and Excel? 2000? Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007?

Are they trial versions?
