vista and .net framework

Before I read what .net framework, I removed it from my vista machine. I
know, I know, I was trying to reduce the number of processes running and free
up some dram. Now that I know what it is I am trying to reinstall it. I ran
the cleanup tool and I tried to download .net 3.0 I get an error stating that
I have to update my windows xp to servicepack 3. hmmm I dont run win xp.
Anyways, if someone knows how i can reinstall .net framework 3.0 please let
me know. Or I'll just have to rebuild my windows vista with my backup disks.
I have read and tried all or at least what i could find on
support.microsoft.com

The only way to reinstall it in Vista is to run sfc /scannow from an
Elevated Command Prompt:
