Results 1 - 50 of about 543,000 for known norton problems with vista.
http://www.google.com/search?num=50&...ems+with+vista

Yep, I've been using it since I got my system with no problems at all. Mind
you, I've been using NIS for several years and know what it's about, so
don't have a problem handling it. Some other folks have different
experiences.

You aren't performing a correct search with that link.
Your search has 5 separate key words. Any page containg those
words IN ANY ORDER will be picked up .

Therefore not every page will describe a problem with Norton and Vista.
Click on the ' cached ' link on the bottom line of each entry to see the words highlighted.

Try reading a few of the pages to see what I am talking about..

A better approach would be to include quotes thus:
"norton with vista" or "norton and vista"

I stopped using Norton years ago because of its bloat and effects on
performance. However, after reading some of the reviews on Norton Internet
Security 2008 that said Symantec had made improvements to reduce bloat and
performance impact, I decided to give it a try. The machine I am using it on
is set up for dual boot of Vista Ultimate 32 bit and Vista Ultimate 64 bits.
I have installed it on both (using up 2 of the 3 licenses it comes with) and
it does indeed seem to have less bloat and little impact on performance. I am
satisfied with it. On my other machines, I use other AVs.

By the way, I saw in one of the Fry's ads this week they had a bundle
consisting of NIS 2008, Ghost 14, and another program for 99.00. But after an
in-store discount and two rebates, the price was 0 - Frys often has such loss
leaders advertised. If you do not mind messing with rebates, this might be a
cheap way obtain NIS 2008 and try it out. If I remember correctly, Symantec
has a 30 day refund policy if you go another route. If you do decide to try
Norton, I would recommend you download their removal tool first that
completely removes all traces of Norton. Then if you have problems, you can
remove it.

With all that said and done, one other caution. If your machine is an older
machine that you have installed Vista on, then it might not perform well with
Norton.

Yes, we have also used NIS for years and have had no problems on our XP
machine. A neighbor just bought a new machine with Vista installed and
wants to activate the trial version of Norton's. I told her I'd check this
newsgroup to see if anyone had anything to say.

Thanks for your input.

Sure I am.

I should have added about 5 more. The more I find to discourage anyone from
using Norton the better they will be :>)

Yep, use the cache a lot in my searches, but then also the real link to be
sure the page hasn't been updated or changed.

No need, I've read all I want about Norton's Junkware Preformance hitting
Bloated Crapware.

You are obviously too stupid to use Google to get any meaningful results.
