Vista and Office 97

has anyone tried using office 97 w/vista? Microsoft does not claim to
support it. Any experience would be appreciated.

It works fine and you can install SR1. You won't be able to install SR2
though, it tries to replace the Marlett font - it does back out gracefully
though.
