Vista and time of day

Using Windows Vista Ultimate in Satellite Laptop

As my computer boots to Vista, the correct time appears at the lower right.
Just before the start menu appears, it jumps ahead one hour. It does this
every time I boot.

I have it set to the correct time zone (Central Daylight US)

If I reset the time to the correct time, it keeps that time until reboot.

I have AVG FRee installed as AV

I am an MCSD, so I am not an idiot. I have looked everywhere in the OS for a
setting to change.

Any Help?

That's a bit strange; but I'm suspecting you have some variety of a Daylight
Saving anomaly.

For example, the Default User Profile have Daylight Saving turned on (so
time displays correctly at logon screen), and your own user profile may have
daylight saving turned off (so shows one hour out, once you log in to your
own Profile).

Also, have the Dayight Saving updates installed Central US Time was changed
in the update of August 2007, I think. You might want to make sure you have
the latest and greatest DayLight Saving Update installed:

Is it set up to check the time against any external source? Maybe that's
where the problem lies.

When I disabled the service Windows Time, the behavior goes away.

I don't know how to configure that service as to what server it gets the
time from.

I tried updating using the Windows Vista 32 bit copy of KB933360 fix and it
displays the error message that this update is not for my operating system.

I am using the 32 bit version of Vista Ultimate.
