Vista and VMware

I installed Vista in VMware, for the second time. The first time I
could install the VMware Tools. But now, I can't. There is no
reaction if I try. Any idea what's going on?

uninstall them and reinstall them or do it manually by going to the cd of
the client after you give vmware the command to install them

I tried it several times, even reboots. What do you mean with the
CD? From Vista?

Yes I assume you have vista INSIDE the VMWARE console... or in otherwords
vista is the
virtual computer... go to the command on VMWARE and select to install the
tools,

then go in the vista (virtual computer) and look in the CD, there you will
see the setup files

do the setup manually

the only reason you see them pop up, is because AUTORUN starts inside the
virtual machine
as it things that a cd is inserted when you give the command install vmware
tools from the vmware interface...

Yes, you are clear, there was only a virtual optical drive
connected. After I established the drive normally and restarted
I could install the VMware Tools. Thank you to send me at the
right way. :-)

You need to point to the DVD as an .iso file to get the tools.
Or, just install MS's Virtual PC 2007.

The tools were there, I had nothing to do but click Install.
Which would be better, VMware or Virtual PC?

I've used VMware for years but recently switched to MS VPC 2007 and
haven't looked back especially since I'm running x32 & x64 XP Pro & Vista.

Vmware is the absolute KING of virtualization... and dont let anyone tell
you otherwize
Its the most flexible virtual machine program.

There is server and player that is free... there is also a beta for vmware
workstation 6
that has some very intriguing new technologies.

Virtual pc is more of a toy.. lol... by they way.. MS bought it,
they didn't develop it from scratch.. as MS always does..
they buy things and change them a bit..
Bill gates bought what was called pc-dos from a programmer working in a
company,
only for 50.000 and created MS dos...
that started him off in the beginning..making him millions.
The poor guy that wrote dos,
is almost totally forgotten....

It's a great "toy"...LOL. Works perfectly and it's FREEEE!
