Vista and Web Browsing

Hello:

I have a problem that I am to the point of giving up. I have Windows Vista
Home Premium, and can no longer seem to access some webpages. There are some
webpages (including www.whitehouse.gov or www.nytimes.com ) that will not
load when I access it using Firefox and IE. This happens at home or at
work. At home, I can use other computers and they do not have the same
problem. I disabled and even removed my anti-virus program (McAfee) and it
wouldn't work. I did find, however, that when I started the computer in Safe
with Networking, I have no trouble accessing any website I needed to. I am
guessing that the problem is with the security that comes with
Vista--something that is checked or not checked when it comes to accepting
cookies or something else a webpage is trying to load?

Is there an easy troubleshoot for this or any other recommendations any of
you might have for this sort of problem? I am tapped out.

Thanks!

Hi Kelusman,

You might try resetting IE7 to see of that may help you.

In IE7,
1. Click Tools - Internet Options.
2. Click Advanced tab
3. Click Reset button

Hope it helps,
Shawn

Vista sucks hind tit. It's a bloated pig of an OS. Any fool who
buys it is just doing free beta testing for Microsoft.

Luckily you can get a well-deserved refund from this address:

XP worked fine from day one, but Gates sure hit a wall with Vista.
There's even class-action lawsuits being filed as you read this for
the time wasted using Vista.
Vista is half-baked. Releasing something half finished is certainly
nothing new for Gates. XP was about the only software made by MS that
actually ran half decently smooth without freezing up every boot from
the release date forward.

Good luck with those law suits and refunds people.

Thanks for the rant. And you should realize that that contributed
absolutely nothing to this discussion.

As for the OP's problem, I had a similar problem when I immunized my
system using Spybot S&D. I don't know if that's the source of your
problems though.

Works fine with me. Its a lot better then XP or any other operating system.
Vista pricing is also appropriate for the third world countries.

Hi all:

Thanks for the help (with the exception of the one that encouraged a
lawsuit, which doesn't help my immediate problem). The web browser doesn't
seem to be the source of the problem. None of the web browsers work.

What are the steps involved with renaming hosts file to nohost?

Thanks,

CK

If you had this problem with something else, how did you fix it?

Thanks,

CK
