Hi,
I Installed Windows vista over windows xp to multi boot. When i boot,
the vista boot loader give me the choice to boot from vista or xp. If
i choose xp then the ntdlr boot loader of xp comes up. What will
happen if the xp partition is deleted. Does the Vista boot loader
still work?

Thanks*.

if the partition of XP is the first partition (is this the case?) then if
you erase - format that partition, there will be no bootloader at all and
nothing will boot... since the bootloader always is on the first partition
of the drive

you can however use then the vista dvd to repair and reinstall the vista
bootloader...

do a backup of your data before you do all this.

It is going to depend on where you have your Vista boot loader installed.
You are going to have to examine your partitions and see where your files
are, which is your system drive, etc. There is no way to help with the
information your supplied.

How could we possibly know? You haven't said which OS is installed on
which partition.

The first partition is XP and after verification the Vista boot folder
is on the XP partition. Is there a way to transfer the Vista
bootloader on the Vista partition before to format the XP partition?

Thanks.

If the Vista partition is a primary partition, you can make it active and
then run start-up repair.

After this change is the XP partition still usable?

Thanks.

It is as usable as any non active partition (like your Vista partition is
now). You mainly can't use it for the boot process.
