I would like to regain the traditional look of Vista on my Windows Vista Home
Premium based computer....when i first got the computer and i clicked on the
"switch between windows" icon the traditional look would appear....now its
just a light blue rectangle with icons inside it. Any suggestions on how to
get the futuristic look back???

Hi Cathy,

In the desktop properties (right click a blank area of the desktop, choose
personalize), click on Themes and change back to the Windows Vista theme.

It sounds like Vista Aero has been turned off on your computer. This can
happen because of software incompatibilities (usually with old games),
hardware not meeting the stiff requirements for running Aero, or if you have
a non-genuine (pirated) Vista copy.

You can turn Aero back on in Control Panel > Appearance and Personalisation
> Change Theme > Select Windows Vista theme.

Here is an article that can help you troubleshoot problems with Aero:

Do you mean the cascade you see when you hold down the WindowsKey and press
tab?
