Vista background offset from screen

Hi, I have a problem with my windows backgrounds. I've searched
everywhere, but I can't find any reference to this problem. If anyone
can help me out, I'd be very appreciative, it's not a huge issue, but
it's been bugging me for a month or two now.

For some reason, Vista seems to think my desktop background should
begin above the screen. The actual desktop is fine, my icons and program
windows behave properly, but when I try to center a background image, it
centers about 100 pixels above the screen center.

I've attached images, the first is the full image I just set as my
background (as a test), it is exactly the same height and width as my
desktop. The second image is how it appears on my desktop, you can see,
the top is cut off, and it doesn't reach the bottom of the screen.

Does anyone know what might be going on here? Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated, I've tried everything I can think to do. It does
this same thing no matter what the I set the screen resolution to.

2 things to check--your monitor screen settings using the button on the
monitor itself and the Desktop Wallpaper selection in Personalize. Check
there for Stretch, center, tile settings. You should be using your monitor's
optimal (highest) resolution for best results.

Thanks for your help, but my computer is a laptop, so I don't think
can adjust the screen position settings... regardless, my icons don'
line up above the top of the screen, and maximized programs don't g
above the screen, only the windows background image does, so I don'
think it's a question of screen positioning. In addition, at the botto
of my desktop, there is a blank space where the background shoul
extend. The problem is when positioning my wallpaper, and only whe
positioning the wallpaper, windows seems to think the centre of th
desktop is 100-200 pixels (a guess) higher than it actually is..

I am also currently using the highest resolution my laptop monito
allow

Thank you very much, though, do you (or anyone else) have any othe
ideas
