Vista Backup and REcovery

I do a backup of files every day, to a hard disk drive, this is now getting
full.
I do not see any way of deleting old backups in the Backup and Recovery tool.

What is the best way to manage, the backup data, if I just delete the file,
then the catalog will be wrong.

Any constructive help would be appreciated

When my BU drive gets half full I create a new full backup, then when it is
full I delete the older backup in explorer and then create a new full
backup. and then repeat...
