Vista backup missed .ZIP files

I did a partial Vista Backup and specified that it backup miscallanious
files as well as data and documents.

When I went to restore from the "My Downloads" folder, there were fewer
than ten files to restore and my target sub-folder was missing
altogether.

I wanted five .Zip files from the sub-folder, but I discovered that the
only .ZIP files that had been backed up were those in c://Program
Files/Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.

My "My Downloads" folder had about 50 .ZIP and .RAR files, that are now
lost.

Way to go Microsoft.

For our members that don't have Vista Ultimate and don't use
commercial backup utility, I always recommend that they manually sav
any important files/data to a USB hard drive just in case

You blame this on Vista? One has to know how do drive, and besides, I
have a 250gb USB hard drive that I copy and paste to for very important
files I need saved.

While I do not think this has anything to do with MS or Vista, I use Casper
5 for my back-up system, it is very easy to use and has never failed me, any
issue I had were my own doing and the Casper technical support people are
very prompt in helping.

cheers

Lost because you deleted them thinking they were in the backup?

So, why are your files lost? Did YOU delete them before you checked to see
if the backup worked?

That the best babble you can come up with? Yet you want to be
addressed as mister implying you're some kind of guru? You write more
like Mr. Ed (the horse).

You think you are some big **** with 250 GB of "priceless" data?
(probably Mr. Arnold's porn stash) Well sonny, I back up over 6 TB
worth of data, yes that's with T, not G. Hint: you're way out of
league and have business giving anybody any kind of advice Mr. lamer.

Another Option is to use the older NT backup utility that is native to Win2k
and XP. It will run under Vista, is free and fairly flexible. Yes, it's
kludgy and limited in what it can do, but I use it, it works well; plus it
allows you to backup AND restore any and all files. It can be run from Task
Scheduler - I do weekly backups to an external IDE drive. There are some
work arounds to consider as well, such as running it in XP compatible mode
to ensure it works properly. There are several web sites devoted to doing
this.
