Hi
Does anyone know if the long awaited SP1 will address the backup problems on
Vista business? I have not been able to either backup files or PC as there
is error messages to do with shadow copy etc (0x8004231F). I have a new
laptop and wondering where to go what to do as I have had no joy from HP as
they say it is a conflict. And no answer from MS either. Just been given
the run around by all. Would appreciate any help before I throw the laptop
at someone :-)

I dont know about this backup problem, but you can try clearing your restore
point files that also include the shadow copy files
and try to backup again...

a more drastic thing would be to temporarily disable the shadow copy service
from the services then try a backup

To clear restore points and old shadow copies:
Press START, type Cleanmgr.exe in the search box and then press ENTER, and
then click "Files from all users on this computer".
Select the volume, and click OK. When the progress bar finishes, select the
"More Options" tab, and then click Clean up.

If you google that error message you will see lots of people have the same
problem. I have returned the machine back to its original state ie as I
bought it and created a small doc to see if that would back up. All the same
or similar error messages as before. Until I can back up I am not willing to
go thru all the hours of personalizing my m/c again.
