I've now been running Vista for three months and I have yet to make a
backup. Back then, I realized that I cannot specify the files/folders
that I want backed via Vista Ultimate Backup & Restore Center, so I
ditched Vista's built in utility. It sux.

I found some web site that showed me how to use the old NT backup
(loved this app, btw) and got it basically running but Vista somehow
will not allow me to use the VSS to shadow copy while apps are open,
nor will the scheduled backups kick off.

I want to preferrably use Windows Vista to backup, I need VSS for
shadow copy and scheduling of backups, but if this cant do what I say
above then would you please refer me to a third party application that
will do it?

As far as I'm concerned, all versions of backup in any version of Windows
have been poor. I recommend Acronis True Image.

I had very poor results with Acronis - has anyone tried Titan Backup
and what do you think of it?

Why don't you use a flash drive to backup then go to
Computer/users/username/ Then you can right click and copy each folder that
is important. then go to flash drive and paste. It's pretty simple unless I
misunderstood your post.
