I want to upgrade to Vista but wish to use XP programs. Is there an option to
execute
in XP 5.3 compatibility like in XP?
in XP it is Right Click in the program -> Properties -> Compatibility ->
(Check "Execute in compatibility mode for...") -> Choose Windows version

Thank you!

Yes, there's a compatibility mode.

Yes, the procedure is the same.
However as in windows XP, not every older program will work in Compatibility
Mode.

Check with the manufacturers of your essential programs to see what they
have to say about Windows Vista Compatibility.
Also check with others of the same programs.

There are no such things as "XP programs." Programs are generally not
written to run under one particular operating system.

However most programs written during the XP era should run under Vista
without problems. For more specific information, tell us which
programs you want to run.

Yes, Vista has similar compatibility options, but you probably won't
need them.

Vista is not an "upgrade" - at best it is a "sidewaysgrade". Vista does
nothing that XP can't do when tweaked with free extras like Google desktop -
but then Vista also has a whole load of annoyances and crap built into it.
Stick with XP and avoid the hassle - I wish I had!!
