Dear all,
I am installing new Dell Vostro 200 with 2GB RAM and Vista Business and
joining it to a Windows 2003 domain. The problem is that the machine will
stay with a black screen with the cursor showing (no keyboard action works)
and this will stay for about 20-30minutes everytime the machine is booted
up. This occurs to all users even one that is assigned to the administrator
group.
I have found out after many frustrating hours that the problem only can be
resloved when I locally login using the Windows 2003 domain administrator
account and the problem will go away. This means that once the
administrator has login once then subsequent login by enduser will not have
the black screen. Also I observe that after the admin first login and the
very next restart where the enduser login there is the Windows Media setup
that runs for the first time. I am suspecting that the Windows Media
setup is the culprit here and I notice that it has a registry setting the
the "RunOnce".
Is there a way around the problem without having to resort to using the
administrator to login locally on the new machine for every installation.
Thanks.
Regards,
Kueh.
