My feedback would be...
If you suspect the encryption is causing you crashes - what is the status of
your un-encrypted backups of the encrypted data?

... I back up everything remotely, I'm not worried about losing data. I
just want this @#$% blue screen to stop on shutdown. I need to keep
BitLocker on - I travel with my laptop and it contains very sensitive
data.

Thanks for your feedback!

Understood. The issue is that it is rare to see a question here that
involves encryption that isn't in the form, "how do I recover my encrypted
data?".

Have you contacted support at the manufacturer of the laptop?

You don't mention it, so: are you using Service Pack 1 on this machine?

Vista and BitLocker may not be the culprit. System memory chips could be the
problem. Scroogle for 'MEMTEST' and try that a couple of times to either
eliminate OR isolate for further analysis......

I ran the Vista memtest and all my memory came back as perfect. Goo
call, but I honestly and thoroughly did test memory

This issue only happens when I do a full shutdown - and it happen
consistently when I shutdown

No. Don't use Vistas version. This one.
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...load-9423.html

Older versions boot from floppy, new versions boot from CD-ROM.
