Vista bug with recognizing app discs

Well, I've had Vista installed for a while now, and have run into at least
one pretty major bug. For some reason, DVD's or CD's (such as application
install CD's), simply aren't recognized at all when put in the DVD tray.
Autorun does nothing, and if you try and open the disc Vista spits out a 'how
would you like to prepare this blank disc' message. There's no way to get
into it. I found at least one other guy with the same problem:

Anyone else come across this?

It has to be a Vista problem, as I have two drives (a DVD recorder and a CD
writer), and the same problem occurs with the disc in either drive.

Verify your BIOS for determining the Boot Drive, must be your DVD.

If the BIOS is correctly Booting from the DVD, please Post again, to this
Thread, with additional specific information.

Almost daily, Silently, Vista's functionality enhances... what worked
yesterday, might not work today.

Hi,

I can boot from a DVD with no problems. I can also rip DVD's (using DVD
Decrypter or DVD Shrink) within Vista with no problems. When I try and
'explore' or 'open' a disc within Vista, it just recognizes it as blank and
asks me how I'd like to prepare the disc.

The DVD player and discs are fine, Vista is just having problems recognizing
them as non blanks.

Have you installed any CD/DVD authoring software, such as
Nero, Roxio, etc.?

Thanks. There's no way to do it online or via email? I'm in Australia so
