Does anyone know about Vista crashing when holding the Windows Key (+) E for
a few seconds? I tried it and was unable to turn off my computer. It kept
putting up My Computer Folders rapidly without stopping.

Hello,

that's inconvenient, but normal
For every part of a second a new Computer explorer window will be created.

Greetings,

And what did you think Windows Key + E should do?

Pressing the Windows Key + E will open a explorer window.
If you keep holding this combination it will open more explorer windows
until you system runs out of resources.
Not so much of a bug as a misuse of a feature.

Yeah, we know.
But it didn't crash my Vista.
Just stop it with Task Manager, and close all the windows.
I had 80-some open.

You can slow it down by reducing the repeat rate in keyboard properties..

Like that old joke---

Patient: It hurts when I do that, doc.
Doctor: Then don't do that.

Have you tried it?
I have and there was no crash.
There were a lot of Windows I needed to close, that is all.

I would not consider it a bug since it works as designed.
You press the keys, one opens.
Hold down the keys, and more open.
Simply do not hold down the keys id you do not want multiple windows
open.

Probably because it is easy to duplicate, it is routinely spread by
Windows critics in their vain attempt to show a nonexistent bug.

Back to the old idea:
If it hurts when you do it, don't do it.

The question must be asked - why do it to begin with? Is it stupidity,
intentionally running a computer out of limited hardware resources?

Jupiter needs another lesson in humility.

Try this:

1. Go to a binaries newsgroup.

2. Make sure the news reader's image viewer is set to Photo Gallery.

3. Select a 100 or more images as a group, then the newsreader's auto
launch option so images display as they download.

Sit back and watch moronic Vista open multiple instances of Photo
Galley until it runs out of system resources and at some point
depending on how much memory you have and the size of the images you
are downloading it crashes. Just a real world variation of the other
example. Of course fanboys will say it isn't a bug, no, crashing your
system is a undocumented "feature" Microsoft took five years to
develop.
