Vista (Chinese OS) + Office (English)?

I've bought a new PC with Windows Vista Home Basic (Traditional Chinese OS),
I want to know if I can install English version Microsoft Office to it?
Also, which version of Office is recommended, XP or 2000?

Office 2003 and 2007 is recommened for Vista, if you want to use Outlook.
Earlier Outlook(Office XP, etc) versions do not remember the password for
your email account.
If you don't want to use Outlook, XP and 2000 Office are fine

The language: I don't know!

You would need to install the same language version of
Microsoft Office as the language version of Windows Vista.
Microsoft Office 2007 would be an excellent choice!

With great respect, but ... I don't believe that is correct. There is no
barrier to installing English Office onto Chinese-language Vista.

I have certainly installed Japanese and Chinese (Simplified) Office 2007
onto English-language Vista machines, and they ran fine.


For best results in a multilingual environment, however, I would strongly
recommend using Office 2007 or Office 2003, in preference to Office 2000 or
XP.

Office 2000 and Office XP were developed back when Windows 9x was still a
target platform. So, these older versions of Office had to accomodate the
limited multilingual abilities of Windows 95 (especially, no Unicode!).

Office 2003 has much better support for Unicode. In Office 2007, Windows XP
and Vista are the only taget platforms, and they both fully support Unicode.

You might occassionally see a strange string while running English Office (a
Chinese-language menu item, etc) on Chinese Vista. But generally, it should
work okay - as long as you use Office 2003 or 2007.

If you must use Office 2000 or Office XP, then I agree with Carey - it's not
wise to try to run English editions of these old Office versions on Chinese
Vista. They will install, but they may not be fully reliable. You should run
them on an English-language OS.
