Thanks for the disappointing news. Out goes PCTools, in goes Avast. On a side
note: Just from reading about it, I'm impressed by Avast 4.5. A new resident
protection module is in this version. It's a "Network Shield". For all intent
and purposes, it's "Snort lite", an intrusion detection system (although I
doubt it's that comprehensive or difficult to manage). Too bad it looks like
that feature is only on the (paid) Professional version. I'll pay for it
eventually if I like it.
I have several other programs, of a less critical nature, that are caught by
UAC in this manner. From what you're saying, they're only programs that
aren't "fully" compatible with Vista? Does Vista have an "Approved" list?
Anyway, I'll deep 6 & replace 'em. Thanks again.
