Vista continuously freezes for a few seconds, please HELP!!!

My Vista Ultimate-SP1 PC continuously freezes for a few seconds,
it freezes then I hear a "click" noise coming from my hard drives
and it works again for a while...after a couple of minutes or even
less it happens again..

I have all the Vista updates and all my software and drivers up to date,
I have already unsuccessfully tried everything and I' don't know how
to solve this.

I have not reformatted to reinstall Vista, as I learnt searching
Google that other Vista users are suffering an identical
problem even after several clean Vista Installs.

I'm running Vista Ultimate-SP1 on a Intel Core Extreme Q6850
PC with 4GB of RAM, Asus P5K Premium Black Pearl Edition mobo,
ATI Radeon HD 2600XT Video Card.

I have Vista installed on a SATA RAID 0 configuration (two Raptor
X 150GB SATA), and I have 4 secondary hard drives (all SATA non RAID).
I just installed the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager software and it
indicates
my RAID configuration and all my HDD's are OK.

I'll appreciate any help regarding how to solve this problem

I have replaced every power and data cables and also the power
supply. It seems to be a Vista problem from what I'm reading from

running a thorough(complete) full-system scan.You can also try getting the
latest version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal tool from the
Microsoft Download Center and running it to check what harmful software

I just downloaded the Windows Malicious Software Removal
tool and it found 2 trojans! I can't belie it because I had Nod32
antivirus/antispyware installed and always on..

I had Defender deactivated because Nod32 is supposed to be
an antispyware tool too, but now I have removed Nod 32 and I just
installed a trial version of Kaspersky antivirus as I can't trust Nod32
anymore.

I'm still running Windows Defender along with my new Kaspersky,
but as Kaspersky is also an antispyware program, do you think I
should deactivate Defender now?

I'm really confused, I have purchased Nod32 and installed it in all my
4PCs because so many people recommended it, but now I must find the
best antivirus/antispyware I can get..

What do you recommend?

BTW= It's too soon to know if my freezes problem are now solved after

The first thing your experience should tell you is UAC is a scam. It
didn't protect you. You had not one, but two Trojans on your system.
UAC is a lot like the rent-a-cops at airports that are suppose to
provide security. They frisk kids and feel up grandma and take away
her hand lotion or somebody's aftershave, but ten terrorists could
walk trhough and they never would be the stopped.

Remember what P. T. Barnum said: There's a sucker born every minute.
To prove his point he was unhappy that too many people were lingering
inside a popular freak show he was running. So he put up a big sign
that read This way to the Egress. That's just a fancy word for exit.
It worked. As soon as people saw the sign they of couse thought the
sign pointed to the next freak exhibit instead of giving them the
bumb's rush making room for the next crowd. UAC "works" pretty much on
the sample principle. Rubes fall for it.

After several weeks trying to solve this problem, even reformatting,
replacing the power supply, cables, memory sticks, and more,
I believe I found the origin of the problem. And it seems to be related
to Vista.

In "Power Options Advance Settings" >> "Hard Disk", I modified the
"Turn off hard disk after 20 minutes setting to "Never".

My several HD are all SATA, and when Vista shuts them down automatically,
the SATA do not restart immediately, and this is seen as a temporary freeze.

Since I entered these new settings, it's been working fine for a few days
now.

PS: Thanks to Hiren and Nina DiBoy for helping me. As my problem
wasn't related to a Virus or Trojan, I just reinstalled Nod32 and I also
activated Windows Defender, as I learnt they work very well trogheter.
