Hi,

I start my HP laptop with Vista Professional 32-bit and its allways start
Windows Update.

I got message: Windows Update has downloaded 0 % even after 1 hour so I
cancelled the update and restarted it again. Still does same and so I
restarted the
laptop and after reboot it does same again.
Every time the laptop reboots it says update 3 of 3 and then it
continues to message "Wait for the Windows Install..." after a
couple of minutes the server reboots and starts all over with update 3 of 3.

I have tried to start the server both in Safe Mode and with "Last known good
configuration" but the laptop just reboots.

Has someone else experienced this?

Vista, Vista SP1, or Vista SP2?

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the
computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista (try
Method 3)

HI PA Bear:
This is EXACTLY what is happening to my boyfriend's computer. EVERY time he
turns on computer. Everything is frozen, he cannot move mouse, cursor, cannot
get windows task manager Ctrl/Alt/Del. pressing buttons nothingworks. How
can he get out of this endless loop? I've suggested unplugging from the
internet, but I use XP not Vista. Then I've suggested (if he gets out of
loop, somehow) that he not get automatic updates, but instead, asks for
notification so he can review. Meantime, can you help??
Thanks
Lolypop in Calgary (using my computer because his is frozen in the loop)

Hi again, PA Bear
P.S. we've checked all physical connections, we've managed to get the 'safe
mode' options screen, but no matter which option is highlighted (safe mode,
safe mode with networking, or safe mode with Command prompt), it defaults to
a normal startup, then the windows screen comes on saying " configuring
updates stage 3 of 3, 0% installed, do not shut off computer."
BF has lost install CD (already). Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks
Lolypop

To avoid confusion, I'll need you to begin a new thread about your specific
problems, please. State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g.,
WinXP SP3; Vista SP2) in your first post.
