i'm ticked at microsoft for remaking their performance monitors. they
took away the counters for my network interfaces. i used to have a
small window with a graph that showed butes transmitted to and from
the system. iow, all network act4ivity was reported via a graph. now
with vista, you cant get anything close to a graph. unless someone's
got a trick up their sleeve....

I am using Samurize to create graphs for many things (in fact I have it
running on my taskbar)
I just exported it as a SAM file and reimpoted it .
If you are using samurize and you do what I say, when you reimport it asks
what adaptor you want to use as default

You should be ticked at yourself for not finding it easily.

Windows\System32\perfmon.exe

It does have Network bar. It has graphs for CPU, Disk, Network and Memory

You can expand the Network bar and see all the processes ongoing as they
come alive.

FYI, there have been a few versions of this API: perfmon.exe. I kept them
all. In addition to this new one which is Vista's API, I have perfmon4.exe.
Honestly I do not remember if it was originally named this or I renamed it
not to get it confused with the other one.

Perfmon4.exe shows old style, more familiar perfmon graph with a very wide
window. You must set up your own parameters and lines (color) that you want
but you can save it as a template/project.

If you can get hold of the old XP perfmon.exe try it: it will work.

Or you can add a network monitoring gadget to the sidebar. There are several
to choose from, do a search in the Windows Live Gallery:

You obviously don't have much exposure to what's out there for
computers. :-)

Cheers.
