Did you do your homework and research the possible issues with Vista and
your current hardware? If not, then you have nothing to complain about. In
my case, I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 530 with Vista Home Premium.
While it immediately recognized and installed my Epson Stylus Photo R200
printer and my Samsung ML-1430 printer and my Epson Perfection 1650 scanner,
it does not get along with some of the software that came with the scanner
and ink jet printer. So those functions do not work under Vista.
You can't expect miracles. All three pieces of hardware do work, just not
with all the software that was included with them. I can't use the function
buttons on the scanner, for instance. Big deal! It scans just fine,
regardless.
Is your machine capable of running Vista Ultimate? And I don't mean just
the absolute minimum requirements. You need at least 2GB of RAM and you
should have a discrete video card with at least 128MB of RAM. Yes, you can
run Vista on systems with integrated video memory, but the consensus is that
a video card is really required to get Vista to perform.
What kind of internet connection are you using? There is no "time limit"
for downloading files as far as I can tell. I have just this week
downloaded three files each of which was just over 1.0 GB in size with no
issues of any kind. My DSL connection handled them all with no problems.
Finally, did you do a clean install of Vista Ultimate? Or did you attempt
an install over XP? Do the work and research required to use your copy of
Vista Ultimate. Then try the install again.
