Vista crashes after allowing any program access

Everytime I'm confronted with the pop-up permission window to allow a program
access to my computer I have to click Cancel, otherwise by clicking Continue;
Vista will crash.
This is starting to get really annoying as I can't allow some programs to
update or even run.
Any help would be appreciated.

Chris,

For me, this turned out to be a bug in the graphics driver and updating to
the current driver solved the problem ( I have nVidia GS 7900).

Try searching in Hardware and Devices and you'll find more on this.
